In this tutorial we will show how to use the Multilight option. This option is used for changing the intensity of any light within the scene after the render is done.
We have created a simple scene with 3 lights for this purpose. Remember to always work with reasonable units.

Open the render configuration, System tab and mark the Enable Multilight option.

Hit render and go to the Preview / MXI tab, you will see a section called Multilight.

There you will find a box named Lights, where you can see the number of lights in the scene, and next to them a slider that you can use to control the light intensity. Now we only need to choose the light that we want to modify, then move the slider to adjust it.

Let’s see how we can create a video with an animation of the lights in our scene. Go to the Multilight tab, and you will see that you have a time line and different sliders to control the light intensity in this window.

To start animating it, select a frame where you will create a Key. You can create it by using the right button of you mouse and then clicking on Create Key Frame. Now that the Key has been created, adjust the light’s intensity on that frame.

Once that you have animated the lights with the new key frames, we save the video just as we see it in the image. When you save it, it will generate a file sequence in .png format. You will easily be able to edit with any video editing program.

It’s so easy to use this powerful Maxwell feature!
